Juice WRLD is gone but not forgotten, and that message is clear in his touching posthumous lyric video for “Stay High.”
The animated clip finds Juice WRLD manifested as a purple butterfly, navigating a challenging chess board of stormy weather, lean and money stacks. The butterfly eventually leaves Earth, and finds a colorful paradise through an angel’s halo.
“Too low in my life / So I gotta stay high, yeah, I gotta stay high,” he muses in the hook.
The popular rapper died in December 2019 at age 21, due to oxycodone and codeine toxicity. While traveling home to Chicago on a flight from LA during the early hours of Dec. 8, the “Lucid Dreams” artist suffered a seizure at the Midway International Airport. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead hours later.
